Project Accountant

We have partnered with a growing property business based on the fringe of the CBD. Sitting within the development and construction finance team you will play a pivotal role in managing a diverse asset portfolio. 

Main tasks of the role include, but are not limited to: 
  • Primary responsibility for arranging debt and/or equity drawdown documentation and supporting reconciliations.
  • Liaise with internal teams for the establishment and management of bank accounts and bank reconciliations ensuring these are done on a timely basis.
  • Assist with the preparation of the cash flow forecasts by ensuring that all projects ledgers are up to date in terms of equity, debt, and interest charges.
  • Responsible for a range of day to day project accounting tasks to ensure sub-ledgers and general ledger is accurate and information is updated on a timely basis.
  • Responsible for the month end close and reporting process for development entities including general ledger and sub-ledger entries, accruals, adjustments and reconciliations. Review WIP balances and provide support for balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Present reports in a consistent and easy to understand format across all projects.
  • Preparation of monthly management accounts. Close general and sub-ledgers within 5 working days following month end.
  • Assist in the preparation of financial information presented in the monthly board papers.
  • Work with Development Managers, Project Managers, and Contract Administrators to ensure that all financial reporting is accurate and delivered on time.
  • Provide joint venture partners with customised reporting as required in line with JV agreements.
  • Ensure compliance with company accounting policies.
  • Ensure compliance with joint venture, equity and debt facility agreements.
  • Understand the key stakeholders, deliverables and reporting requirements of each project.
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3 years post graduate experience as a  project accountant, financial accountant or management accountant. As a minimum, you must be degree qualified and have commenced your CA/CPA. You must have strong communication and analytical skills, along with accuracy and attention to detail, with the ability to multi-task, plan and manage tight deadlines.
