Head of Engineering

Established 10 years and now operational in 5 countries, publicly listed on the NZX, with fast approaching 20,000 customers across 30 countries, this leading B2B SaaS business have recently secured additional funding and are ready to scale!

With an engineering team fast approaching 30 covering web, mobile, back end & DevOps, we are now seeking an up and coming engineering leader to help them scale. This role will suit someone who has operated at senior engineering manager level in a "player coach" capacity and is ready to take the next step on their career path to CTO.

This role will not be hands on from a coding perspective but we do require someone hands on enough to know what good like, help choose appropriate tools & methodologies and is able to coach and mentor a globally distributed engineering team of varying experience.

Experience required to be considered for the shortlist:
  • hands on background as a full stack engineer building web platforms, using any modern enterprise technology stack.
  • extensive experience as an engineering leader up to senior engineering manager level, managing teams of 10+ engineers.
  • strong product mindset; you love building products, it’s in your DNA. You are customer and value obsessed and know how to create and communicate innovative ideas.
  • strong team player and coach: you know when to give autonomy or when to roll up your sleeves and get the job done. We don’t expect this role to code but you love seeing great code turned into usable and beautiful software.
  • You've managed complex technical projects, have been responsible for critical systems, and know how to build products and features from scratch.
  • experience working in a small, fast growing SaaS business will be highly regarded. There may be exceptions to the rule but it's unlikely anyone who has worked exclusively for big corporate enterprise will be a fit.
Remuneration will include base salary, equity-based compensation and incentive rewards.
You need to be a permanent Australian resident to apply. The role is preferably located in Sydney, and we enjoy a mix of working from home and working from the office.
